The merger represents the culmination of past cooperation and a recognition that both organizations were pursuing similar aims, namely to make mental health care more humane and effective.

Initially Hamlet|GIP will focus its attention on developing Community Mental Health programmes in Sri Lanka and Bethlehem.

Hamlet|GIP is a member of the GIP Federation and its chairperson will be an ex officio a member of the GIP Board and Federation Council. Hamlet|GIP will continue operating as an independent entity registered under UK legislation, with responsibility for its operations resting entirely with its Trustees.
